FELTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police are identifying a 4-year-old boy who was killed when three dogs attacked him at his mother’s friend’s home.

Police identified the boy as Kasii Haith on Thursday. Police say he was playing with the dogs in the yard of the Felton home Wednesday, when his mother, Kyeisha Haith, saw her son being attacked. She was bitten several times as she tried to save the boy.

Paramedics and police responded, but police say Kasii was pronounced dead on the scene. His mother, who is pregnant, was taken to an area hospital for treatment and observation.

The First State Animal Center and SPCA says the dogs were euthanized.
