CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The city of Charlotte is proposing making nearly 190 employees full-time.
The Charlotte Observer reported (https://bit.ly/RwVfOi) that the proposal by City Manager Ron Carlee would make the workers eligible for health and dental benefits, as well as a retirement program.
Most of the employees work at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, including 100 shuttle bus drivers and 46 service representatives.
Budget Director Randy Harrington says making the employees full-time will more accurately reflect the existing city staffing levels.
The move would cost about $2.5 million for the airport workers and about $1 million for more Charlotte police officers.
City council will vote on the plan next month.
