CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - An arrest warrant has been issued for a logger accused of using a government-funded contract for debris removal to cut trees for profit.

A criminal complaint in Kanawha County Magistrate Court says 50-year-old David Bowen of Charleston is charged with destruction of property, wrongful injury to timber and obtaining property by false pretenses. All are felonies.

Media outlets report the arrest warrant was issued Thursday.

Kanawha County had hired Bowen’s company, Russell Trucking, to remove debris from Charleston’s Coonskin Park after the 2012 derecho. The complaint says Bowen also cut logging roads and cut and sold timber for more than $100,000.

Bowen has said he had permission to cut trees in the park. He lost his state license last year.
