ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - Albany State University has received a $105,000 grant to research anti-cancer drug resistance.
Rep. Sanford Bishop this week announced the award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the National Institutes of Health.
Bishop, a Democrat from Columbus, says he’s “grateful for this opportunity extended to Albany State University to continue the advancement of vital cancer research.”
Earlier this year, Bishop announced he was cancer-free after undergoing chemotherapy after being diagnosed with throat cancer.
Officials say the grant will fund advanced medical research and also provide resources for Albany State to teach and train students for future projects.
