WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A short railroad line serving the Port of Wilmington is getting about $900,000 worth of improvements.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports (https://bit.ly/1s6EaG8) that Paul Worley with the state Rail Division says one reason for the improvements to the Wilmington Terminal Railroad is to expand the wood pellet storage and processing facilities at the port.

The 17-mile line connects the port with the CSX railroad. The track and roadbed is owned by the port and is operated by a private company under a lease agreement.
