OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening across much of Oklahoma.

Forecasters say the area at slight risk of storms is east of a line from Woodward to Altus to Seymour, Texas. This includes nearly all of Oklahoma.

The weather service says the peak hours for any severe thunderstorms will be between 4 p.m. Thursday and midnight. The storms could bring golf-ball-sized hail, wind gusts up to 70 mph and locally heavy rainfall of up to 2 inches, which may cause flash flooding.

The weather service says storms should weaken during the evening hours with the loss of daytime heating.
