BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says a Saginaw man charged in a scheme that prosecutors say defrauded investors will be extradited from Germany next week.

In a news release Thursday, Schuette announced that U.S. marshals will accompany Joel Wilson on his May 15 trip from Frankfurt to Detroit. Investigators from Schuette’s office then will take Wilson to the Bay County jail.

The 31-year-old will be arraigned on May 16 in Bay City District Court. Wilson faces nine felony charges, including racketeering.

He’s accused of scamming investors by selling unregistered securities through an investment company. Schuette says $8.5 million in investor funds is missing.

Wilson told WNEM-TV in a telephone interview from Germany last year that he was “overcharged.”
