FAIRFIELD, Maine (AP) - The reward for information leading to the arrest of the vandal or vandals desecrating a little Maine girl’s grave site has grown as the case has received more publicity.

Police say an area radio station and private citizens from as far away as New Jersey have helped bolster the reward to $1,800 as of Wednesday, and it’s only expected to grow.

Six-year-old Avery Lane died of complications from the flu in 2012.

Her mother says her grave site at the privately-owned Friends Cemetery in Fairfield was vandalized twice recently, with adornments and toys scattered and broken. Police say it appears Avery’s grave was targeted because there was no damage to other graves.

The Morning Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1j0icVV ) reports that an Augusta-based security company has also offered to donate surveillance equipment.
