OPINION:
“Margaret Sanger, racist eugenicist extraordinaire” (Web, May 5) states that “between 2007 and 2010, nearly 36 percent of all abortions in the United States were performed on black children, even though black Americans make up only 13 percent of our population.” If you count the abortions since the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, you will find that at least one-third of the black population is missing because of abortion.
Where is the leadership of the black community on this? Where do the pastors and the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton stand on the killing of innocent, unborn black children? Does the NAACP think blacks can advance by killing off a third of their population? Why doesn’t the Congressional Black Caucus demand an investigation of the disproportionally high number of abortions in the black community, as it demands investigations when there are disproportionally high numbers of black high-school dropouts and blacks in jail? Finally, why do black voters cast 90 percent of their votes for the pro-abortion Democrats instead of the pro-life Republican Party?
I find it very difficult to understand much of this. Abortion is a choice, not a law forced on people. Why would any community voluntarily keep its own population low and help fulfill Sanger’s eugenicist dream?
