LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a firefighter received a minor injury while battling a fire in Lincoln.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Pat Borer says the firefighter hurt his knee Thursday while working on the blaze at a house on the city’s northeast side. He is expected to report to work in a few days.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1uHrE47 ) authorities believe a cigarette started the fire. A resident at the house was seen using a garden hose to try to contain the fire. Firefighters stopped it within 15 minutes of arriving.

The fire caused $50,000 in damages. The American Red Cross is assisting a family of four who lived at the home.
