SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Federal authorities say they seized an estimated $9 million worth of cocaine stashed inside a shipping container at the Port of Savannah.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said Thursday that routine container inspections at the Georgia port turned up 133 packages containing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.
Authorities say the cocaine weighed more than 346 pounds. It was seized on April 14.
No arrests were announced. Customs officials say they are still investigating.
The Port of Savannah is fourth-busiest container port in the U.S. and second on the East Coast only to the shared port of New York and New Jersey. Savannah handled nearly 3 million cargo containers of imports and exports last year.
