MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - A fourth government on South Carolina’s Grand Strand has banned large tents from the beach.

Atlantic Beach has banned the tents from May 15 through Sept. 15.

Those are the same dates that the ban in North Myrtle Beach is in effect. In Myrtle Beach the tents are banned from Memorial Day through Labor Day while Horry County bans the tents year round.

Officials say the large tents can crowd the beach making it difficult for emergency vehicles to make their way along the shore.

Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes says after this year, the municipalities should work together on the bans to eliminate confusion about where and when they are in effect.
