DETROIT (AP) - A weekly walking event along Detroit’s popular RiverWalk is slated to start.
Organizers say “Walk the RiverWalk” Wednesdays will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. through Aug. 20.
The program begins Wednesday at the GM Plaza downtown. People living or working downtown are encouraged to walk during their lunch hours or scheduled breaks.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy are promoting physical fitness and healthy living as part of the multi-year “Live the Riverfront.” The initiative also includes physical fitness classes and construction of a riverfront fitness park in 2015.
