U.C. professor orders ‘Ted Cruz-supporting tea [expletive]’ from class, student says

A University of California Santa Barbara student has just come forward and said her professor of black studies made it more than clear on opening day of class: No Ted Cruz-type supporters allowed.

In fact, the professor’s exact words were for any “Ted Cruz-supporting tea [expletive] to get the hell out of his classroom before he sent them home to their mother in a body bag,” the student, Alice Gilbert, said to the College Fix.

Ms. Gilbert said the statement was made by professor Otis Madison on the first day of his class, “The Obama Phenomenon,” last fall, The Blaze reported.

Although that was months ago, and she gave the story to College Fix citing the quote from memory, she also claimed “there were other students with me in the class who can attest to them,” The Blaze reported.

“I was taken aback and offended,” she said, explaining that she nonetheless failed to report the comments to university officials because the remarks didn’t target her specifically, and she was unsure what administrators could — or would — do to the professor. But a new social campaign on campus called “#MyLiberalCampus” has given rise to her speak-out, she said, in the College Fix.

“The effort, launched by the College Republican National Committee, strives to highlight the discrimination and intolerance conservative students face everyday on campuses nationwide. So far, more than 350,000 people have engaged in the conversation,” the College Fix reported, in a description of the social media effort.

Ms. Gilbert also just appeared on Fox News to discuss in a panel setting what it’s like to be a Republican or conservative on college campuses these days.

During the broadcast, a student named Megan Haas from Northeastern said it’s “horrifying to think professors are limiting or contracting” certain political views.

Ms. Gilbert said of her experience that it “was shocking to say the least, and I did not come out of that in the best attitude. I actually ended up dropping [the class]. I did not feel comfortable” paying for a professor who would target my political beliefs, she told “Fox & Friends.”
