CHICAGO (AP) - Mayor Rahm Emanuel has ordered his motorcade drivers to slow down after a TV report that traffic cameras have caught them speeding and running red lights.

Asked about it at a news conference Wednesday, Emanuel said he told them “nobody’s above the law, slow down, period.”

Emanuel has defended the cameras as a safety measure around schools and parks, but critics contend they are primarily a revenue generator.

WLS-TV reported that (https://bit.ly/1qdZTAD ) it ran the mayor’s plates through a city website that logs traffic camera violations. The station says it found the vehicles ran 17 red lights and were caught speeding three times since 2012.

WLS said that in March, one of the mayor’s SUVs, with police lights flashing, was clocked going 18 mph over a school zone speed limit.
