FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - State Department of Fish and Wildlife officials say the striped bass population in Lake Cumberland is as healthy as it’s been in years.
They say the rising lake levels at the south-central Kentucky reservoir are good news for the fish. The lake level is slowly being raised after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed a repair project on the Wolf Creek Dam.
State biologist John Williams predicts a good year for striped bass fishing. He says the bass are much healthier this year with better body condition and better growth.
Williams says a population sampling for striped bass revealed a good population of fish from 25 to 32 inches long. The keeper limit is 22 inches.
