AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are offering a reward for information about four shootings on and near the Paine College campus in Augusta, including one that wounded a student and led to a lockdown of the school.
Richmond County Sheriff Richard Roundtree said 21-year-old Paine student JaJuan Baker, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head Monday, remained hospitalized. Roundtree said he was not yet physically able to be interviewed.
WRDW-TV reports (https://bit.ly/RlEsgY) that the sheriff’s office is offering a $2,000 reward for information on any of the four shootings. Crimestoppers is offering to match that amount with $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Sheriff’s officials on Wednesday confirmed that Baker and a suspect in his shooting — 20-year-old Xavier Deanthony Cooper — are both Paine students. Cooper faces charges that include aggravated assault.
