HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - Some DeSoto County residents are asking supervisors to do something about trailers or boats parked on a small side yard in plain view from the roadway.
Supervisors are reviewing a local residential zoning ordinance that prohibits “major recreational equipment,” such as boats, trailers and recreational vehicles, from being parked or stored on lawns of front yards.
Supervisor Bill Russell tells The Commercial Appeal (https://bit.ly/1g7S0CN) the ordnance defines front yard “as stopping at the front of the house.”
He says it doesn’t include side yards as might be assumed.
He says it’s getting to be a real problem in some neighborhoods.
For now, violators are being told to move the vehicles to the backyard.
