RACINE, Wis. (AP) - A Racine man has pleaded no contest to making a bomb threat at work because he wanted Halloween off but didn’t have any vacation left.

Online court records say 28-year-old Jacob W. Vanderhoef pleaded no contest this week to a felony charge of a bomb scare. A second charge was dismissed.

Prosecutors say Vanderhoef left two threatening notes at Poclain Hydraulics in late October. The criminal complaint says he told investigators he didn’t want to work on Halloween but was out of vacation time.

One note was found Oct. 29. It said a timed explosive was scheduled to go off during the week of Halloween. It also taunted authorities to “catch me if you can.”

A message left with his defense attorney, Mark D. Richards, was not immediately returned..
