HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford police are asking for the public’s help in finding a 2013 murder suspect.

Police are searching for 33-year-old Shadeed Islam.

He’s accused of shooting and killing 39-year-old Kareem Lewis of Hartford on Sept. 19, 2013. Police say they responded to reports of an unresponsive victim and found Lewis suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Police say an investigation led to identifying Islam as the alleged shooter.

They obtained an arrest warrant on April 28 and are searching for him. A judge has set his bond at $5 million.

Police say Islam has an extensive firearms and narcotics history, with 39 previous arrests in Hartford.

They say he may be armed and dangerous.
