LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Southern California man whose car hit a light pole, electrocuting two women who tried to help him, has pleaded no contest to vehicular manslaughter.
Los Angeles County prosecutors say Arman Samsonian entered the plea Wednesday. He’ll be sentenced to 70 days of community labor, probation, a fine and will have to pay restitution.
Authorities say the 21-year-old Glendale man was speeding, passing cars and driving in a left-turn lane in a rush to get to the gym in August of 2012 when he lost control on a turn in the Valley Village area of Los Angeles. The car hit a fire hydrant and knocked over a light pole.
Prosecutors say that created a pool of electrified water that killed two women and burned six other people.
