MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - A judge has refused to reduce the sentence for a Summerville man serving three years in prison for his role in the death of a man outside a bar in 2011.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported (https://bit.ly/1g7Lg7Y) that Circuit Judge Roger Young on Tuesday denied a request to reduce the sentence for 28-year-old Justin Johnson.
Johnson was sentenced in January after he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for the death of 35-year-old Edward Duttine of Summerville.
Investigators said Duttine got into a scuffle with Johnson and Jonathan Powell of Ladson at a bar in Goose Creek.
Johnson’s attorney had said his client deserved the same sentence as Powell, who had his sentenced reduced to one year in prison and five years of probation.
