As the U.S. House of Representatives moved toward organizing a select committee to investigate the Sept. 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday she’s “absolutely” satisfied with the information that’s come out and said there’s no reason to go any further.
“I mean, of course there are a lot of reasons why, despite all of the hearings, all of the information that’s been provided, some choose not to be satisfied and choose to continue to move forward. That’s their choice,” Mrs. Clinton told ABC News in an interview.
“And I do not believe there is any reason for it to continue in this way, but they get to call the shots in the Congress,” she said.
Mrs. Clinton, the presumptive frontrunner to be the Democrats’ 2016 presidential nominee should she choose to run, was the U.S. Secretary of State at the time of the attack.
She provided an earlier Benghazi hearing with its most iconic moment when she angrily deflected a question by yelling “what difference does it make?” whether the attacks were a planned terrorist operation.
Congressional Democrats on Wednesday were still weighing whether to even participate in the committee, which is to be led by Rep. Trey Gowdy, South Carolina Republican. House Republicans say the special investigative panel is necessary because the White House has not been transparent enough on the circumstances surrounding the attack.
