MAYFLOWER, Ark. (AP) - The Federal Emergency Management Agency is opening a disaster recovery center to assist Arkansans affected by last month’s severe storms.
The agency announced the center will open Thursday in the hard-hit town of Mayflower. The center will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Recovery specialists from across the state, FEMA, the Small Business Administration, the IRS, the American Red Cross and other agencies will be at the center to answer questions.
FEMA also says it has teams canvassing affected neighborhoods and providing information to storm victims.
The April 27 storms that tore across the state killed 15 people and destroyed dozens of homes and businesses.
