FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board has scheduled a meeting to discuss a possible settlement with the superintendent, who was placed on administrative leave last month.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://is.gd/j597m4) the school board will meet Monday afternoon to discuss “ongoing personnel investigations and the superintendent’s employment status, including potential settlement negotiations and settlement authority.”
The board on April 7 placed Superintendent Pete Lewis on leave while a hired law firm investigates how the district handled a case of alleged sexual abuse by a tutor at Hutchinson High School. Officials had said the Lewis’ leave was not a disciplinary action.
Board members have expressed concerns of liability exposure in how that case was handled.
