COHOCTON, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they’ve found no sign of a man who called 911 to report he had been injured while camping in a wooded area in western New York.

Troopers say Steuben (stoo-BEHN’) County emergency dispatchers received a call around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday from a man saying he had fallen in the woods in the town of Cohocton, 45 miles south of Rochester.

The call ended before dispatchers could get more information from the man. State police and other law enforcement agencies and fire departments searched the Cohocton area using technological tools that can track cellphone locations, but didn’t find the caller.

A second 911 call was received two hours later, but it also ended before more information could be attained.

Troopers say Wednesday that the case remains under investigation.
