COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The football teams from Clemson and South Carolina are being honored by the NCAA for outstanding performances in the classroom.

Both programs were named among 13 Football Bowl Subdivision teams in the top 10 percent in the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate, a measure of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally.

For Clemson, it’s the fourth straight year the team has been among the top 10. This is South Carolina’s first appearance in the top 10 percent of APR.

Both football teams finished 11-2 this past season. The Gamecocks were ranked No. 4 and the Tigers were at No. 8 in the final rankings.

The NCAA will release the full APR reports on May 14.
