NEW YORK (AP) - Infielder Brendan Ryan has been activated from the disabled list by the New York Yankees after being sidelined since spring training with cervical spine nerve injury.
Ryan takes the roster spot of pitcher Michael Pineda, who completed his 10-game suspension for using pine tar and was put on the 15-day DL Tuesday with a right shoulder muscle injury.
Penalized for having pine tar on his neck on April 23, Pineda was hurt while throwing a simulated game on April 29. The Yankees said they expected Pineda will be sidelined three to four weeks.
