LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a woman who jumped from a busy freeway overpass in northwest Las Vegas, snarling the morning commuter rush.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott says at least one vehicle struck the woman about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when she landed on the transition ramp from eastbound Summerlin Parkway to southbound U.S. 95.

Two other vehicles also crashed beneath the Rainbow Boulevard overpass, but Elliott says no other injuries were reported.

The transition road was closed for several hours and traffic was diverted to a carpool lane overpass while authorities investigated.

Elliott says Las Vegas police are handling the death as a suicide.
