The driver of a vehicle that breached a restricted area around the White House and caused a lockdown Tuesday has been taken into custody, according to media reports.
U.S. Secret Service stopped the driver, who hasn’t been identified and appears to have been driving a Honda sedan, and took him into custody about 4:40 p.m., CNN reported.
The vehicle apparently drove on to a restricted part of Pennsylvania Avenue as the area was opened to allow a motorcade to enter. NBC News reported President Obama’s daughters, Sasha and Malia, were in the motorcade.
Numerous White House correspondents tweeted that all reporters have been moved into the press briefing room and told to remain there as the Secret Service stages on the North Lawn.
