WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) - U.S. goalkeeper Hope Solo says Canada’s Christine Sinclair is the world’s best female soccer player.

Solo ranks Sinclair above Brazil’s Marta and U.S. teammate Abby Wambach. Marta is a five-time FIFA World Player of the Year, and Wambach has scored more goals than Sinclair or anyone else in women’s soccer.

Solo says Sinclair has been held back because she hasn’t had the right support players, although she feels that is changing. But she ranks her as the best because she plays equally well on either side of the ball and reads the game so astutely.

The U.S. women play Canada in an exhibition game Thursday. The rivalry between the teams has taken on more of an edge since the U.S. beat Canada in the semifinals at the 2012 Olympics.
