A woman in Indonesia who was caught having an affair with a married man was gang-raped by eight men — as “vigilante” punishment — and is now going to have to suffer a public caning due to Shariah law.

The man, 40, caught in the adulterous act will be caned, also, the Daily Mail reported.

The affair came to light after eight men barged into the 25-year-old woman’s home and caught her in an adulterous act with the married man.

They accused her of having “improper sexual relations” and raped her repeatedly, inflicting a sort of “vigilante” justice that was not sanctioned by the government or law authorities, the Daily Mail reported.

The man, meanwhile, was tied and beaten, and then both were doused with buckets of sewage, the newspaper reported.

But the adulterous couple’s punishment is not yet finished.

“The woman and the man will both be caned because they have violated a religious bylaw on sexual relations,” Ibrahim Latif, the head of the Shariah office in the town of Langsa, told the Jakarta Globe.

The woman’s gang-rape — while not technically sanctioned by the Shariah office — does not release her from her other punishment of caning, he said.

Meanwhile, three of the rapists have been arrested, including a 13-year-old boy, and police are continuing to search for the other five suspects, he said, the Daily Mail reported.

Both the woman and the man face up to nine lashes each with the cane. The Daily Mail reported they both admitted having sex with each other on numerous prior occasions.
