DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A man charged in the stabbing death of a homeless veteran near a suburban Philadelphia train station waived his preliminary hearing on attempted murder charges in another case.
Prosecutors say 21-year-old Dale Wakefield of Doylestown stabbed a fellow inmate in the face and arms with a ball-point pen on Feb. 24. Wakefield waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Bucks County.
Wakefield has been behind bars without bail on a first-degree murder charge in the July 3 slaying of 71-year-old George Mohr outside the Doylestown train station.
Prosecutors allege Wakefield stabbed the homeless Army veteran more than 70 times with a pocket knife, causing injuries so severe that rescuers thought Mohr was struck by a train.
It was Doylestown’s first murder in more than 40 years.
