COLUMBUS, N.M. (AP) - Federal authorities say a man sought in a vehicular manslaughter case has been arrested at a U.S.-Mexico border crossing station in southwestern New Mexico.

Customs and Border Protection says agents at the Columbus crossing took 28-year-old Jose Merced Mendez Nevarez into custody on a warrant stemming from a 2007 case in Albuquerque.

CBP says the arrest occurred Friday as agents inspected a vehicle about to enter Mexico.

Two other people in the vehicle were determined to not be legally in the United States.
