A Tarrant County jury deliberated about 40 minutes Tuesday before deciding the sentence for Thomas Lester Harper. The jury deliberated 45 minutes Monday in Fort Worth before finding Harper guilty of murder.
A statement from the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office says the 30-year-old defendant must serve 30 years of his prison sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
Harper slammed a sport utility vehicle into the rear of a pickup truck at an Arlington intersection the afternoon of Dec. 7, 2011. Killed in the crash was 42-year-old Najee Nasir (nah-JEE’ nah-SEER’) before Harper fatally shot 18-year-old Clarence Robinson as Robinson approached to help.
