OPINION:
After watching White House spokesman Jay Carney respond to questions from the news media regarding an email about the Benghazi killings, it was clear that Mr. Carney has no conception of reality or the truth (“Carney faces torrent of questions on Benghazi,” Web, May 10).
Recently, the private organization Judicial Watch went to court requesting documents regarding Benghazi. An email in question detailed the White House narrative to misinform the public; namely, that the attack on our embassy in Benghazi, Libya, had resulted from a video that insulted Muslims.
Mr. Carney stated the new supposed smoking gun was “bogus” and that the emails had nothing to do with Benghazi. He totally ignored the fact that the heading regarding the email stated that Benghazi was the reason for the email. While blowing off any wrongdoing, Mr. Carney kept pounding the party line that the administration had only been reporting what it learned from the CIA and that the incident was very fluid.
As a former law-enforcement officer, I’ve heard just about every excuse in the book when it comes to covering backsides. When you don’t have the evidence to make a claim against anyone, you keep your mouth shut until you do. The fact that the Obama administration sent out then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice to play down the terrorist attack just before election time was the main factor to perpetuate the lie. President Obama previously announced to the world that al Qaeda was dead — knowing that it wasn’t.
To add insult to injury, Mr. Obama knew shortly after the incident that it hadn’t been about a video, and he went before the United Nations and on television interviews lying like a child with his hand caught in a cookie jar.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.
