SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A highway that connects with Interstate 64 in central Kentucky will have lane closures on Wednesday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says Kentucky 55 in Shelby County recently had additional lanes completed. The roadway will be striped on Wednesday before it is opened to the new pattern.

Kentucky 55 will have two lanes in each direction and turning lanes at the ramps to I-64 to try to alleviate traffic delays at the interchange.

The final asphalt surface for the road won’t be installed until paving operations are finished late this summer on I-64.

That project between Simpsonville and Shelbyville is widening the interstate from four lanes to six lanes.
