Purse: $10 million. Winner’s share: $1.8 million.

Television: Golf Channel (Thursday-Friday, 1-7 p.m., 9 p.m.-midnight; Saturday-Sunday, 12:30-6 p.m.) and NBC (Saturday-Sunday, 2-7 p.m.).

Last year: Tiger Woods won the fourth of his five 2013 PGA Tour titles. David Lingmerth, Kevin Streelman and Jeff Maggert tied for second, two strokes back.

Last week: J.B. Holmes won the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow for his third PGA Tour title and first since having brain surgery. Jim Furyk was second, a stroke back.

Notes: Woods, also the 2001 winner, is sidelined following surgery to relieve pain from a pinched nerve in his back. … Bubba Watson is making his first start since winning his second Masters title. … If tied after regulation, there will be a three-hole aggregate playoff. If still tied, the playoff will go to sudden death. … Greg Norman set the tournament record in 1994, shooting 63-67-67-67 for a 24-under 264 total. … Jack Nicklaus is the only three-time champion, winning in 1974 at Atlanta Country Club, 1976 at Inverrary and 1978 at Sawgrass Country Club. … The tour will be in Texas the next two weeks for the Byron Nelson Championship in Irving and Colonial in Fort Worth.

Notes: The tournament is the tour’s 1,500th official event. … Uihlein is skipping his title defense. … Madeira is a Portuguese archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean about 400 miles west of Morocco. … Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the Santo da Serra course. … The Spanish Open is next week, followed by the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in Virginia Water, England.
