SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - Students served as tour guides last weekend for people who wanted to tour a 94-year-old school in Sioux City before the building is closed.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1rWs96m ) former teachers and parents strolled through Roosevelt Elementary on Sunday, talking with students and recalling memories about the school.

The school district plans to close the school, along with Emerson Elementary, at the end of the school year. Most students from the schools will attend the new Loess Hills Elementary in the fall.

Those touring the school included Deanna and Miles Klosterman, who first met as kindergartners in a basement classroom. They will celebrate their 57th wedding anniversary next month. Deanna chuckled at those who say “don’t pay attention to those kindergarten romances.”
