The mother of an Arkansas teenager says she knew the tornado had touched down and taken out her son when he no longer returned her texts.
Jeffrey Hunter was hiding in the bathroom in his Vilonia home from the oncoming tornado over the weekend, texting his mother a few updates.
“I’m so scared,” he texted, mother Regina Wood told the local KNWA. And moments later came his last: “Goodbye mama,” it read, Mediaite reported. “It’s heading right for me.”
His body was discovered amid the housing debris by a neighbor who had survived the same tornado. A total of 15 were killed in the weekend storms.
But Ms. Wood said she was thankful at least that in his final moments, her son thought of her.
“That was the most precious thing a son could do for a mother,” she said, Mediaite reported.
