Sen. Joe Manchin, West Virginia Democrat, said Monday that he’ll wait until the end of 2014 to make a decision about running for governor of West Virginia.
“Waking up excited to go to work every day, I want to feel that again,” he said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “If the leaders are never going to work together to try to make something happen, I’ve got to rethink it, too.”
He said Congress needs to figure out how to move the country forward, noting that politics, fundraising and campaigning will work themselves out.
While Mr. Manchin might be leaving, he predicts that Democrats will keep the Senate in 2014, noting that Democratic senators in tough races like Sens. Mary Landrieu, Mark Pryon and Kay Hagan are all good people who can work with the other side.
“I think we have better candidates, and they will succeed, and we will win. It’ll be close, but we’ll keep the Senate,” he said.
