Sen. Chuck Schumer, New York Democrat, predicted Monday that lawmakers will compromise to get a deal on minimum wage in the next six months, but that Democrats weren’t willing to back down on raising it to $10.10.

“There will be some kind of compromise. There are lots of different areas of compromise and it’ll happen, but 10.10 is a pretty strong feeling for us on our side,” Mr. Schumer said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

He said that number is non-negotiable because it’s the “bare minimum” someone would need to get while working 40 hours a week to get out of poverty.

“We can negotiate on the length of time, on seasonal workers, and we’ve told Republicans we want to negotiate,” he said.
