LOGAN, Utah (AP) - A judge has ruled against a group of Cache Valley residents who want to rip out new piping in an irrigation canal and restore it to an open waterway.

First District Judge Kevin Allen says it would be impractical to deconstruct any portion of the newly piped Logan and Northern Canal.

Several Cache Valley residents filed a lawsuit in October 2012 against Cache County, Logan City, the canal companies, and the engineers and construction company involved in the project. They claimed they had been the victim of fraud and their due process rights violated.

Judge Allen disagreed in his ruling on Thursday.

David Richards, a lawyer for Cache County, tells The (Logan) Herald Journal (https://tinyurl.com/ocewgma) it is a clear victory for the county.
