DANVILLE, Ind. (AP) - An American Legion post in central Indiana is planning an event honoring Hoosier men and women in the military as well as their families.

The annual Indiana Blue Star Salute will be held June 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville. This event honors the sacrifices made by family members of those serving on active duty and in the Reserve and National Guard.

The salute is named for a tradition dating back to World War I of putting a blue star in a window if a family member is serving on active duty.
