MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont lawmakers are gearing up for what they hope will be their last week in Montpelier with budget, education, and minimum wage bills still unresolved.
Legislative leaders say they’re hoping to wrap up their 2014 business by Friday or Saturday, and are returning Monday, rather than their customary Tuesday, to get an extra work day in.
Among the bills being worked on by legislative conference committees is the state general fund budget for fiscal 2015, which begins July 1. The biggest difference between the House and Senate versions of the budget is that the Senate included more money for reimbursements for health care providers who serve Medicaid recipients.
The Senate wants to boost those payments by 2 percent; the House pegged funding at less than 1 percent.
