BANGOR, Maine (AP) - The American Lung Association ranks Bangor, Maine one of the four cleanest cities for air quality in the United States in its State Of The Air report.
The association released the annual report on Wednesday. It lists Bangor as one of four cities that had no days with unhealthy levels of ozone or short-term particle pollution. It also had low levels of year-round particle pollution. The other cities were Bismarck, North Dakota, Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida and Salinas, California.
Bangor City Councilor Nelson Durgin said in a statement that everyone has the right to healthy air.
The report states that about 46 percent of Maine residents live in counties with fair to poor air quality.
