MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect in the city’s first homicide of 2014.

Police Chief Steve Stewart tells The Star Press (https://tspne.ws/RiSqA9 ) that officers arrested 25-year-old Joshua Michael Haskins during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.

Haskins faces a preliminary charge of murder in the shooting death of 29-year-old Gary Wayne Barbour Jr., who was found slain outside an apartment in a public housing project in the eastern Indiana city. He was not listed in online jail records as of Sunday evening.

Stewart says the men were mutual friends of a woman and had a fight in her apartment before the shooting took place on a rear patio.

Delaware County Coroner Scott Hahn said Barbour had been shot multiple times.

Muncie is about 50 miles northeast of Indianapolis.
