PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A Bloomington man who has already served time for threatening President Barack Obama now faces up to 10 more years in prison, this time for threatening to kill the judge who sentenced him.
The (Peoria) Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/RbGAIm ) that Phillip R. Porter pleaded guilty Thursday to sending a threatening letter to U.S. District Court Judge Joe McDade.
His sentencing is scheduled for September. Until then, he’ll be housed at a secure mental health facility.
In 2010, McDade had sentenced Porter to nearly two years in prison for the threats against Obama.
In that case, Porter was accused of making calls to the Richmond, Virginia, office of the FBI four times in a single day saying he was going to kill Obama. He pleaded guilty.
