SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois State Police have graduated dozens of new troopers.
More than 40 new troopers took the oath and were formerly presented with their Illinois State Police stars during a ceremony in Springfield on Saturday. It’s the first cadet graduation class so far this year.
Before the ceremony the cadets participated in the tradition “Bell Ringing Ceremony” to commemorate the graduation.
The new troopers will be stationed around the state, including at posts in Ashkum, Chicago, Downers Grove, East Moline, LaSalle, Lockport, Pittsfield and Sterling.
ISP says 14 of the news troopers are veterans.
Another cadet class is currently in training and a third is scheduled to start in June.
