BRYAN, Texas (AP) - The congressman who represents the area damaged by a deadly fertilizer plant explosion wants Texas to re-examine the number of injured in the blast.

Republican U.S. Rep. Bill Flores of Bryan sent a letter Thursday to the Texas Department of State Health Services asking for a “more comprehensive investigation” of the explosion last year in West.

The Dallas Morning News reports (https://bit.ly/1fHQxs4 ) that official state tallies of those injured in the blast omit people who sought care from private medical providers and do not track mental health issues.

Flores says West is counting on the state for a more detailed investigation.

A spokesman for the health department says officials will work with Flores.

Fifteen people died in the blast last year, and more than 200 people were injured.
